The IBM Ethernet Router J11M with the standard cable manager is 16 rack units (U)
tall, or 21 U with the extended cable manager. Three routers with the standard cable
manager, or two routers with the extended cable manager, can be stacked in a single
floor-to-ceiling open rack, for increased port density per unit of floor space. The
router provides 14 slots that can be populated with up to 12 Dense Port Concentrators
(DPCs) or 6 Flexible Port Concentrators (FPCs) and 2 Switch Control Boards (SCBs).
Alternatively, the chassis can be populated with 3 SCBs and up to 11 DPCs or 5 FPCs.
The IBM Ethernet Router J11M is an Ethernet-optimized edge router that provides
both switching and carrier-class Ethernet routing. The IBM Ethernet Router J11M has
a capacity of up to 480 gigabits per second (Gbps), full duplex.
Fully populated, the IBM Ethernet Router J11M provides up to 480 Gigabit Ethernet
or up to 48 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports. Several types of DPCs and PICs are available.

Guide . Each DPC includes either two or four Packet Forwarding Engines. Each Packet
Forwarding Engine enables a throughput of 10 Gbps. For a list of the supported PICs,

The router is shipped in a cardboard box strapped securely to a wooden pallet. Plastic
straps secure the top and bottom in place. The router chassis is bolted to this pallet.
Quick Start installation instructions and a cardboard accessory box are also included
in the shipping container.
