the
captive
screw
on
the
rear
of
the
server
and
remove
the
riser-card
assembly.
Place
the
riser-card
assembly
on
a
flat,
static-protective
surface.

Remove
the
expansion-slot
cover.
Attention:
PCI
expansion-slot
covers
must
be
installed
on
all
vacant
slots.
This
maintains
the
electronic
emissions
characteristics
of
the
server
and
ensures
proper
cooling
of
server
components.
7.
Touch
the
static-protective
package
containing
the
adapter
to
any
unpainted
metal
surface
on
the
server.
Then,
remove
the
adapter
from
the
static-protective
package.
Avoid
touching
the
components
and
gold-edge
connectors
on
the
adapter.
8.
Place
the
adapter,
component
side
up,
on
a
flat,
static-protective
surface
and
set
any
jumpers
or
switches
as
described
by
the
adapter
manufacturer,
if
necessary.
Attention:
When
you
install
an
adapter,
make
sure
that
it
is
completely
and
correctly
seated
in
the
PCI
expansion
slot
before
you
turn
on
the
server.
Incomplete
insertion
might
cause
damage
to
the
system
board
or
the
adapter.
9.
To
install
the
adapter
in
the
riser-card
assembly,
carefully
grasp
the
adapter
by
its
top
edge
or
upper
corners,
and
align
it
with
the
PCI-X
expansion
slot;
then,
press
the
adapter
firmly
into
the
expansion
slot.
10.
Reinstall
the
riser-card
assembly.
Make
sure
that
the
riser-card
assembly
is
fully
seated
in
the
riser-card
connector
on
the
system
board.
11.
Tighten
the
captive
screw
on
the
rear
of
the
server.
If
you
have
other
options
to
install,
do
so
now.
Otherwise,
go
to
“Completing
the
installation”
on
page
18.

drive
that
your
server
supports

other
information
that
you
must
consider
when
installing
a
hard
disk
drive:

Locate
the
documentation
that
comes
with
the
hard
disk
drive
and
follow
those
instructions
in
addition
to
the
instructions
in
this
chapter.

The
server
comes
with
one
integrated
drive
electronics
(IDE)
CD-ROM
drive,
one
1.44
MB
diskette
drive,
and
one
serial
advanced
technology
attachment
(ATA)
or
SCSI
hard
disk
drive,
depending
on
server
model.
