unit
powers

Auto
:
This
setting
applies
only
in
situations
in
which
input
power
is
lost.
In
those
situations,
the
unit
powers
on
as
soon
as
external
power
becomes
available
again.
–
Remote
Auto/Scheduled
:
A
schedule,
which
you
set
up,
controls
when
the
unit
powers
on
and
off.
A
power
on
sequence
is
also
initiated
if
the
unit
was
powered
off
due
to
an
external
power
loss
during
the
time
that
the
units
are
scheduled
to
be
on
and
external
power
becomes
available
again.
–
Remote
zSeries
Power
Control
:
One
or
more
attached
System
z
or
S/390
hosts
can
control
the
power
on
and
power
off
sequences.
Powering
a
storage
unit
on
and
off
(real-time
only)
Complete
this
task
to
power
on
or
power
off
a
storage
unit,
bringing
it
online
or
taking
it
offline,
respectively.
1.
In
the
navigation,
select
Real-time
manager
→
Manage
hardware
→
Storage
units
.
On
the
Storage
units
—
Main
Page,
select
the
storage
unit
that
you
want
to
power
on
or
off.

In
the
Select
Action
drop-down
list,
select
Power
Control
The
Control
mode
page
is
displayed.
3.
To
enable
the
power
on
and
off
button
for
the
following
steps,
set
the
Current
power
control
mode
to
Remote
and
set
the
Set
remote
power
control
mode
to
Remote
management
console
manual.
4.
Click
Apply
and
then
click
on
the
Power
on/off
option
in
the
left
navigation
pane.
The
Power
on/off
page
is
displayed.
5.
The
button
label
depends
on
the
current
state
of
the
storage
unit.
If
the
storage
unit
is
currently
off,
this
button
has
a
label
of
“Power
on”.
If
the
storage
unit
is
currently
on,
this
button
has
a
label
of
“Power
off”.
If
you
open
this
page
while
the
storage
unit
is
in
the
process
of
powering
on
or
powering
off,
this
button
is
disabled.
6.
To
change
the
state,
press
the
power
button.
A
confirmation
message
is
displayed
that
asks
you
if
you
want
to
proceed.
If
you
choose
to
continue,
the
power
button
is
disabled
and
displays
the
label
that
is
the
opposite
state
of
the
box
until
the
storage
unit
is
completely
powered
on
or
off.
A
progress
bar
is
displayed
by
the
button
to
indicate
that
the
process
is
working.
7.
Once
the
process
is
complete,
click
OK
to
close
the
page.
Unit
emergency
power
off
(UEPO)
switch
The
UEPO
switch
is
the
red
switch
located
on
the
rack
operator
panel.
It
must
be
used
with
extreme
caution
and
only
when
the
power
must
be
dropped
immediately
for
a
safety
concern.
The
UEPO
switch
immediately
shuts
off
all
power
to
the
machine.
So,
when
the
UEPO
switch
is
turned
off,
all
data
not
written
to
disk
is
lost
and
not
recoverable.
Note:
Using
this
switch
often
results
in
data
loss.
