DS
Storage
Manager
postinstallation
instructions
You
have
just
installed
the
DS
Storage
Manager
and
its
two
supporting
servers.
The
servers
are
automatically
started
when
you
start
your
computer
and
remain
on
until
you
stop
them
manually
or
there
is
a
system
outage.
The
following
instructions
describe
how
to
log
on
to
DS
Storage
Manager
and
how
to
begin
using
it.
Additional
instructions
are
provided
for
checking
the
status
of
the
DS
Storage
Manager
servers,
how
to
stop
and
start
them,
and
how
to
stop
and
start
the
DS
Storage
Manager
itself
in
the
Windows
and
Linux
operating
systems.
Internet
browser
support
The
DS
Storage
Manager
can
be
used
on
different
versions
of
Internet
browsers.
The
following
list
shows
the
Internet
browser
versions
that
support
the
use
of
the
DS
Storage
Manager.
Unless
otherwise
noted,
these
browsers
work
with
the
DS
Storage
Manager
installed
on
the
supported
operating
systems.

Internet
Explorer
6.x
and
7.x
v
Mozilla
Firefox
1.5
and
2.0
Notes:
1.
You
must
select
the
appropriate
browser
security
settings
to
open
DS
Storage
Manager
in
a
browser.
In
Internet
Explorer,
on
the
Tools
menu,
click
Internet
Options.
On
the
Security
tab,
select
Internet
and
click
Custom
level.
Under
Miscellaneous,
enable
Allow
META
REFRESH
.
Under
Scripting,
enable
Active
scripting.

When
running
the
DS8000
Element
Manager
from
the
IBM
System
Storage
Productivity
Center,
with
a
combination
of
Internet
Explorer
6
and
SSL
(HTTPS)
mode,
intermittent
connection
problems
are
seen.
These
problems
can
cause
some
usability
inconveniences
as
well
as
commands
not
being
run
successfully.
If
you
access
IBM
TotalStorage
Productivity
Center
through
Java
Web
Start,
TotalStorage
Productivity
Center
will
use
your
default
Internet
Explorer
on
your
local
machine
as
the
embedded
browser.
If
your
default
browser
is
Internet
Explorer
6,
this
can
cause
problems.
If
you
log
in
remotely
into
IBM
System
Storage
Productivity
Center,
the
TotalStorage
Productivity
Center
Element
Manager
will
use
Internet
Explorer
6
by
default
as
the
embedded
browser.
There
are
two
work
arounds
identified:
v
Upgrade
to
Internet
Explorer
7.
Internet
Explorer
7
has
improved
performance,
security,
and
has
this
problem
fixed.
v
Adjust
Internet
Explorer
6
to
not
force
an
HTTP
1.1
connection.
Follow
these
steps:
1.
Open
Internet
Explorer
6.
2.
Click
Tools
>
Internet
Options
.
Click
on
the
Advanced
tab
.
3.
Scroll
down
to
HTTP
1.1
settings,
and
uncheck
the
following
two
items:
