components are customer replaceable units (CRU) and which components are field replaceable units
(FRU).

If an action step is preceded by “(Trained service technician only),” that step must be performed only by a
trained service technician.
Error code Description Action
201-199-xxx Unexpected error. Test aborted.
1. Restart the server.
2. Run the diagnostic test again.
3. Reinstall the diagnostic programs (see “Updating
the firmware” on page 167).
4. Check the system event/error log and the BMC
log for messages that indicate the cause of the
error, and take the indicated action.
201-xxx-PBD Test failed:

P = microprocessor [1 - 2]
v
B = Failing bank/pair number
v
D = Failing DIMM number within failing
CPU #P
Note: If D = 9, both DIMMS in the bank
failed.
1. Reseat the failing DIMMs; then, run the memory
diagnostic test again.
2. Replace the failing DIMMs; then, run the memory
diagnostic test again.
3. (Trained service technician only) Replace the
system board assembly.
202-xxx-0nn Failed system cache test.
Note: nn = APIC ID for failing
microprocessor

1. Make sure that the BIOS code is at the latest
level.

1. Run the test again with a different CD-RW/DVD
drive.
2. Reseat the following components:
a. CD-RW/DVD drive
b. Operator information panel assembly
3. Replace the following components one at a time,
in the order shown, restarting the server each
time:
a. CD-RW/DVD drive
b. CD-RW/DVD media backplane
217-198-xxx Could not establish drive parameters.
1. Reseat the hard disk drive signal cable.
2. Reseat the hard disk drive.
3. Replace the following components in the order
shown, restarting the server each time:
a. Hard disk drive
b. Hard disk drive signal cable
c. Hard disk drive backplane
217-xxx-00n Failed fixed disk test.
Note: n is the number of the failed drive.
The hard disk drive numbers are on the
server front.
1. Reseat the hard disk drive indicated by n.
2. Replace the hard disk drive indicated by n.
