3.5.1 Loading a Tape Cartridge
To load a tape cartridge:
1. Make sure that the 7208 Tape Drive power is on (the power-on light should be on).
2. Grasp the cartridge 1 by the outer edges, with the window side up and the write-protect switch 2 facing you.
Note:
See "Setting the Write-Protect Switch" in topic 5.5 to make sure that the write-protect switch is properly set.

3. Slide the cartridge into the opening on the front of the 7208 Tape Drive until the loading mechanism pulls the cartridge into the drive and
the drive door closes (see Figure 10). The message
LOADING
displays.
To indicate that the load operation was successful, the message
READY-TAPE
displays and the Ready status light comes on.
