(10) Switch off the purge pump after closing the manual purge valve without fail.
(11) In case the capacity of the purge pump drops (in case the degree of vacuum does not reach
below 7 mmHg), check the manual purge valve is closed and replace the oil in the purge pump.
Use vacuum pump oil for the purge pump oil. Pour the fresh oil from the suction port. The proper
oil volume to be charged is such amount as the oil level gauge located at the side of the purge
pump points the “red point”
(12) Keep purging operation for 30 minutes at least
(13) Perform the bubble check periodically.
Note: 1) In cooling season be sure to perform the purging while the chiller-heater is operating.
2) In heating season be sure to perform the purging while the chiller
heater stops.
3) In heating season be sure to close the service valves for maintenance and for
manometer.
4) Open the ballast valve so to the extent as the discharge gas does not make a jarring
noise. The oil in the vacuum pump is easy to become dirty, if the ballast valve leaves
closed.
6.3 Vacuum Measurement
Measure the degree of vacuum in the evaporator and absorber according to the following valve
operation.
(1) Disconnect the purging line and the purge pump by the vacuum solenoid valve.
(2) Close the valves V-10, V-3 and V-6 (Make sure that the degree of vacuum is below 2 mmHg by
opening the valve V-5.)
(3) Open the valve V-5 slowly.
(4) The balance between the right and left mercury level of the manometer shows the degree of
vacuum inside the shell.
