6.7 Commissioning the filter unit
When you have checked the points listed here and can answer
them with OK, the filter unit is ready for operation.
1. Fill the filter bowl with the fluid to be conveyed; in order
to protect against dry-running, see
Changing the filter
element [ } 82] .
NOTICE! No dry-running protection is available for
the pump if the filter bowl is not adequately pre-
filled.
2. Insert a filter or empty element in the filter bowl.
NOTICE! Operation without a filter element or empty
element leads to leaks at the filter bowl.
3. Check that the power supply cable is undamaged. Re-
place damaged cables immediately.
4. Check that the suction and pressure hoses are undam-
aged. Replace damaged hoses immediately.
5. Check the permissible ambient and fluid temperature
ranges, see

6. Clean the protective screen, see Checking/cleaning the
protective screen [
}
95] .
7. Prior to each use, match the oil type in the filter unit to
the oil type to be pumped. If you are not sure which sort
of oil is in the filter unit, or if you would like to pump a dif-
ferent type of oil than was most recently pumped, empty
the filter unit completely and replace the filter element.
8. Connect the filter unit to the power or compressed air
supply, see

9. Connect the filter unit to the power supply, see Making

10. Connect the suction and pressure hoses or hang the
