Tension
The feed shaft return spring is set at the factory; however, during the life of the drill press you may want to adjust the
spring so that the feed shaft return pressure suits your operating needs.
Turn the machine off and disconnect it from the mains before maintenance or repairs are performed!
Figure 5
• Take out the screws of the outer cover and remove it.
• Wipe off any oil on the spring lock cover so it does not slip when you hold it. Wear protective gloves.
• Loosen the lock nut and pull the spring cover a little bit toward you, so that it comes free of the spring cover lock
slot.
Note: It is important to keep a good grip during this step. Letting go of the cover will cause the spring to rapidly
uncoil.
• Rotate the cover counter clockwise to increase spring tension, or let the cover slowly unwind in a clockwise
direction to reduce spring tension.
• Engage the next available spring cover lock slot.
• Replace the outer cover and put the screws back in.
