10. Connecting external storage

10.1. IEEE1394 port
DS1600 series have two IEEE1394 ports (Front: 1-port, Rear: 1-port) for external storage device interface.
With them, DS1600 series can expand storage capacity up to 4TB.
Some IEEE1394 Bay may not be recognized by the DS1600 series. Before purchasing, consult the local
HUNT ELECTRONIC distributor.
10.2. Connecting IEEE1394 device
When using FireWire supported external HDD, hard drive bays can be connected to 1 port in the front
panel or 1 port in the rear panel. The DS1600 series does not supply power to the hard drive bay;
therefore only bays that use external power can be used.
<Note>
DS1600 series detect external HDD, even though DS1600 series run. If not, it is recommended to
onnect as follows.
1. Power off HVR-16E.
2. Connect external HDD to IEEE1394 port.
3. Power on external device.
4. Power on HVR-16E.
