HES-319M Installation

Alignment and Acceptance
Use this procedure to align the ODU and determine if the signal quality meets or exceeds the required QoI
levels.
Once the ODU is powered up, signal strength LEDs at the ODU indicate the RSSI level (called Signal Strength in
the Web Management Interface). You can use the LEDs to ‘rough-in’ the position of the ODU but always use
the Web Management Interface (WMI) to refine the position and achieve the best CINR and RSSI levels.
If you have not already configured your computer for DHCP, you must do so now. Refer to the
DHCP
topic in
the
WiMAX Customer Premise Equipment Installation
course or guide.
When you have configured your computer for DHCP:
1.
Have the applicable QoI levels available, as well as the URL and login credentials of the HES-319M WMI..
2.
At the ODU, point the ODU along the line of sight to the base station you chose during your site survey.
3.
Rescan for base stations as described in the
Rescanning for Base Stations
topic.
4.
Use a blade screwdriver to remove the LED cover.
Note that the black and white numbers in the illustration correspond to selected steps in this procedure.
5.
While monitoring the LEDs, move the ODU to the position where the most number of LEDs are on.
6.
Replace the LED cover.
