5.2.2 Transmission Cable Connections

The base station supports the GSM only, UMTS only, LTE only, GSM+UMTS, GSM+LTE,
and UMTS+LTE modes. In different modes, board configurations and transmission cable
connections are different.

Transmission Cable Connections in the GSM Only Base Station

In a GSM base station, the E1/T1 cable, FE/GE Ethernet cable, or FE/GE optical cable can be
used for data transmission.

Transmission over the E1 Cable

shows the transmission cable connections when the E1/T1 cable is used for data

transmission in a GSM only base station where only the GTMU is configured as the transmission
board in the BBU3900.
