7. If you are removing the terminator to install a second processor, remove the terminator from the secondary processor
socket by lifting up the lever and pulling the terminator upwards (
Figure 1
). Save the terminator in an antistatic
protective bag for future needs. Skip to
“Installing the Processor”
later in this document.
8. If you are replacing a processor:
a. Release the heat sink from the installed processor. Press down on a heat sink clip and rotate the clip to free it from
the tabs on the processor socket. Repeat this step for the second heat sink clip.
b. Remove the heat sink from the processor. Save the heat sink for future needs.
c. Remove the processor from the processor socket by lifting up the lever and pulling the processor upwards

). Save the processor in an antistatic protective bag for future needs.

NOTE
The system board is shown removed from the HP Server tc4100 for simplicity in the
following figures, but it is not necessary to remove the system board to install the new
processor module.
