Unpack the power supply and verify that the power supply model is correct.

Correctly orient the power supply with the words on the power supply upward. Grasping the
handle of the power supply with one hand and supporting its bottom with the other, and insert
the power supply slowly into the slot along the guide rails.
Follow the forward inertia of the power supply when inserting it into the chassis, and make sure
the power supply has firm contact with the connectors on the backplane.
To prevent damage, remove the power supply, realign the module with the slot, and insert it
again in case of any misalignment.

Removing a power supply
CAUTION:

If an HPE FlexFabric 5980 switch has two power supplies in 1+1 redundancy mode, removing one power
supply does not affect the operation of the switch. If the switch has only one power supply installed,
removing the power supply powers off the switch.

The power cord color code scheme in
Figure 21
is for illustration only. The cable delivered for your country
or region might use a different color scheme. When you connect the power cord, always identify the polarity
symbol on its wires.
The removal procedure is the same for the 650W AC power supply and 650W DC power supply.
To remove a power supply:

Wear an ESD wrist strap and make sure it makes good skin contact and is reliably grounded.
