WLAN module

The WLAN module installs into a connector on the system board.

For a list of available WLAN modules, see 

Computer major components on page 6

.

Before removing the WLAN module, follow these steps:

1.

Prepare the computer for disassembly (

Preparation for disassembly on page 20

).

2.

Remove the access panel (

Access panel on page 23

).

3.

Remove the drive cage (

Drive cage on page 26

).

Remove the WLAN module:

1.

Disconnect the WLAN antenna cables (1) from the terminals on the WLAN module.

NOTE:

The WLAN antenna cable labeled 1 connects to the WLAN module Main terminal labeled 1. The 

WLAN antenna cable labeled 2 connects to the WLAN module Aux terminal labeled 2.

2.

Remove the Phillips screw (2) that secures the WLAN module to the computer. (The edge of the module 
opposite the slot rises away from the computer.)

3.

Remove the WLAN module (3) by pulling the module away from the slot at an angle.

NOTE:

WLAN modules are designed with a notch to prevent incorrect insertion.

Reverse this procedure to install the WLAN module.
