As
with
all
color
monitors,
the
display
is
v
ery
susceptible
to
external
magnetic
elds.
These
elds
can
originate
from
man
y
sources,
including
unshielded
motors,
metal
frame
tables,
and
from
the
earth
itself.
The
usual
symptom
is
a
discoloration
or
slight
dimming
of
the
display
usually
near
the
top
left
corner
of
the
display
.
If
this
problem
is
observ
ed,
remov
e
the
device
causing
the
magnetic
eld.
In
extreme
cases,
a
total
color
shift
may
b e
observ
ed;
for
example,
a
trace
that
w
as
red
may
shift
to
green.
This
do es
not
indicate
a
problem
with
the
display;
it
is
c
haracteristic
of
all
color
displays.
In
coun
tries
that
use
50
Hz
A
C
p o
w
er,
some
10
Hz
jitters
may
b e
noticed.
1.
If
the
display
b ecomes
magnetized,
or
if
color
purity
is
a
problem,
cycle
the
analyzer
p o
w
er
sev
eral
times.
Lea
v
e
the
instrumen
t
o
for
at
least
15
seconds
b efore
turning
it
on.
This
will
activ
ate
the
automatic
degaussing
circuitry
in
the
display
.

If
the
display
color
purity
is
still
a
problem,
y
ou
m
ust
use
a
commercially
a
v
ailable
demagnetizer
suc
h
as
a
CR
T
demagnetizer
or
a
bulk
tap
e
eraser.

instructions

eeping
in
mind
of
the
follo wing:
A
t
the
rst
pass,
do
NOT
place
the
demagnetizer
closer
than
4
inc
hes
(10
cm)
from
the
face
of
the
display
while
demagnetizing
the
display
.
A
t
the
second
pass,
if
y
ou
did
not
completely
demagnetize
the
display
,
mov
e
the
demagnetizer
to
a
slightly
closer
distance
un
til
the
display
is
demagnetized.
Caution
If
y
ou
apply
an
excessiv
ely
strong
magnetic
eld
to
the
display
face,
y
ou
can
p ermanen
tly
destroy
the
display
.
