Bleeding the System:
Sometimes while sailing air will find its way into the water intake and effectively “lock” water from
flowing to the units, meaning they cannot run as it is from this circulation of outside water that the
units produce cool air. The head units
will blink “HPF” (High Pressure Fault) and shut down when
an air lock happens. First, turn the head unit off or it may damage the unit!
To bleed the air out of the system, go to the primary bilge compartment in the galley area and look
for a clear hose with a red valve (this hose has a label attached explaining what it is). Open the red-
handled valve and turn the head unit on, then switch the secondary bilge pump on at the
instrument panel (F5 and
associated grey handle in ‘Bilge’ position as described earlier
). Water
and air will be exhausted into the bilge. Once the air has been expelled the water should flow
continuously. Watch for a moment and ensure it is then close the bleed valve and shut off the bilge
pump
–
the system should be bled of air and operating smoothly.
Please ensure the AC bleed valve is closed once you have bled the system. If you are
still unsure about bleeding the unit or have any further questions call the manager
on duty.
Circuit Breakers:
If there’s power coming into the boat but the breakers at the panel and the head units won’t turn
on, check that the secondary breakers haven’t tripped. They are reachable through
the holding
tank inspection panel in the head (shown below).
