Cylinder Head Installation
1. Clean the cylinder head mating surface.
2. Install the new cylinder head gasket (1) with
its “UP” mark (2) facing up and locating tab
(3) facing rearward.

3. Install the cylinder head (4) and tighten the
four cylinder head nuts (5) to the specified
torque in a crisscross pattern in 2 or 3 steps.
20 lbf·ft (27 N·m, 2.8 kgf·m)

4. Install the spark plug and spark plug cap (6).
5. Connect the radiator hoses (7) to the cylinder
head.

6. Pour the recommended coolant mixture into
the radiator up to the correct level (page 38).
7. Start the engine and check for the following:
– compression leaks
– abnormal engine noise
– carburetor insulator air leaks
– coolant leaks
