BEFORE YOU RIDE
By choosing to ride a bicycle, you assume the responsibility for that risk; not the people who sold you the bike; nor the people who made it; nor the people
who distribute it; nor the people who manage or maintain the roads and trails you ride on.
Like any sport, bicycling involves risk of injury and damage. So you need to know - and to practice - the rules of safe and responsible riding.
Hand signals are given by cyclists to indicate their intentions to other traffic. There are three primary signals: (1) Left turn/overtaking (2) Right turn, and (3)
Stopping/braking.
Left turn/overtaking - Extend left arm straight out in the direction of the turn, horizontally.
Stopping/braking - Extend your left arm perpendicularly to the body and bend at the elbow with palm facing down.
Right turn - extend the left arm perpendicularly to the body and bend at the elbow with the palm facing up.
