Insert the batteries in the charger. You can simultaneously charge 2 or 4 cells (type AAA or AA). The sliding switch
on the side can be used to select the number of batteries being charged. When charging two batteries, use the two
slots on the left. After checking the batteries' polarity, plug in the network adaptor, or the cable that connects to your car's
cigarette lighter. (If the cigarette lighter cable does not work and the red indicator in the plug is not lit up, then you can check
the fuse after unscrewing the rugged ring from the plug.)
The LED indicator labeled CHARGE/READY/DISCHARGE shows that the charging process has started. The charging current is
set automatically depending on the type (AAA or AA) of the batteries. The charger's protective system recognizes if the batteries are
damaged; in such cases the charging process will not start.
When quick-charging has finished, the device switches to a lower current, the so-called trickle charging mode. This is indicated by the
LED's color turning to green. You can then remove the batteries at any time. Trickle charging sustains maximum battery capacity and
compensates for the batteries' natural discharging if you cannot remove them immediately when charging is complete. This advanced
charging method ensures that the batteries will be at their maximum capacity when you remove them from the charger, and it avoids under-
charging as well as harmful over-charging.
Ni-Cd batteries have a so-called “memory effect,” which means it is recommended to always discharge them completely before starting to
charge them. Otherwise, repeated charging will decrease the power and life span of batteries. With Ni-Mh batteries this effect is less
significant; it is enough to discharge these completely after every few cycles. To discharge the batteries, press the DISCHARGE/CHARGE
button. The LED indicator will turn to green. When the batteries are discharged, the device will automatically switch to charging mode.
(Pressing the button again toggles between discharging and charging.)
New batteries reach their maximum capacity after three charging/discharging cycles. This is also true for batteries that have not been used
for a longer period of time.

Warnings
-
Alkaline batteries cannot be recharged; do not attempt to charge them using the
device.
- Batteries can be recharged at least 1000 times provided you follow the charging
instructions. Rechargeable batteries are therefore not only economical but also very
environment-friendly because you can avoid buying and throwing away a large
number of alkaline batteries.
- The charger is for indoor use only in a dry environment.
- If charging is interrupted (e.g. because of a power outage), always resume the
process by discharging the batteries.
- You must always insert pairs of batteries of the same type.
- Before recharging always make sure that the batteries are intact, the contact points
are not corroded and there is no leakage of liquids.
- When the batteries are recharged, unplug the charger and remove the batteries.
