5.3. Electrical
Hazard due to electrical current.
Handling electricity improperly gives rise to mortal
danger. All pumps with free cable ends must be con-
nected by a specialist electrician.
Before the plant is brought into service, a test must
be made by an expert to ensure that the required
electrical protective measures are present.
The voltage stated in the technical data must
correspond with the existing grid voltage.
Ensure that the electrical plug and socket connec-
tions lie in a floodproof area or are protected against
moisture. Check power line cords and plugs for
damage before using them.
The electrical connection must be made in accordance
with the local regulations of the EVU or VDE. The supply
voltage and frequency can be found on the data plate of
the pump and that of the switchgear. The voltage toler-
ance must lie 6% to - 10% of the mains voltage.
It must be ensured that the data shown on the data plate
correspond with the available electricity supply. Lifting
plants require no additional motor protection. Connect the
plant to the grid with the plug with the earthing contact.
5.4. Starting up
Insert the mains plug in an earthed socket: the lifting plant
is now ready for operation. The pump begins to work as
soon as the water level in the collecting tank reaches
switch-on level. If switch-off level is reached, the pump
switches off.
In order to test for function and leaks/watertightness, the
tank should be filled approx. 3 – 4 times and the input and
output of the pump should be checked during automatic
start-up.
6. Maintenance
6.1. General
The entire system must be inspected and maintained at
regular intervals.
The following points must be noted:
The operating instructions must be available to the main-
tenance personnel and must be followed.
•
Only maintenance work and measures listed here
must be carried out.
•
All maintenance work, inspection work and cleaning
work on the machinery and the system must be car-
ried out with due diligence, at a safe working place
and by trained qualified personnel. The required pro-
tective gear must be worn. The machinery must be
disconnected from the power supply for all work. Un-
intentional start must be prevented.
•
Electric works on the machinery and the system
must be carried out by a specialist.
•
If easily inflammable dissolvers and cleaning mate-
rials are used, open fire, open light and smoking are
prohibited.
•
Ensure that the required tools and materials are rea-
dily available. Tidiness and cleanness ensure safe and
proper work on the machinery. Remove used clea-
ning materials and tools from the machinery after
the work has been carried out. Keep all materials and
tools in a dedicated place.
A test run or function test of the machinery must only
be carried out according to the general operating con-
ditions!
6.2. Maintenance schedule
Every six months:
•
Visual inspection of the power supply leads
•
Clean the collecting tank
6.3. Maintenance work
Visual inspection of the power supply leads
The power inlet leads must be inspected for bubbles,
cracks, scratches, scour marks and/or crushing zones.
If damages are detected, the damaged power inlet lead
must be replaced immediately.
The leads may only be replaced by the manufacturer
or an authorised/certified service workshop. The ma-
chinery must only be started after appropriate repair
of the damage!
