assembled off-circuit. If a hose is used it must be ensured
that it has a size matching the diameter of the pressure
connection and is laid without kinks.
Secure the pump at the handle with rope or chain and
then lower it into the conveyed liquid. If the supporting
surface is muddy, lay stones or the like under the pump to
keep it from sinking in.
Automatic float switch
If the water level rises to a certain defined maximum level
(the switch-on point), the rising float switches the pump
on automatically. If pumping out has caused the water lev-
el to fall to a certain defined minimim level (the switch-off
point), the float will switch the pump off.
The switching distance, i.e. the water-level difference be-
tween switching-on and switching-off points, can be in-
dividually defined. It should at the same time be ensured
that the switch-on point of the pump lies below the feed
line, in order to prevent a backlog of the conveyed medi-
um. The switching-off point must lie above of the upper
edge of the pump housing, so that no air cushion can form
in the pump that might make venting the pump necessary.
For faultless function, please note the following tips:
The cable is fixed to a float arm which is fastened through
a pivot to a rail. The pivot can be moved by releasing the
fastening screw on this rail. If the pivot on the rail is not
pushed fully down, pumping out to a water level of 5cm
is possible. The switch-on point then lies at 26cm. If the
pivot is fastened in the topmost position, the switch-on
point lies at 34cm and the switching-off points lies at
13cm. You can also increase the switching rate by reduc-
ing the water-level difference between the switching-on
and switching-off points. The float arm displays a notch
5. Setting up and starting up
5.1. General
In order to prevent damage to the pump while setting it
up and operating it, the following points are to be heeded:
• Setting-up work is to be carried out by qualified per-
sonnel in compliance with the safety regulations.
• Before being set up, the pump is to be checked for
any damage.
• In the case of level control systems, the minimum
water cover is to be ensured.
• Air inclusions in the pump housing and pipework
must absolutely be prevented (by suitable venting
devices or by slightly tilting the pump).
• Protect the pump against frost.
• The operating space must be designed for the rele-
vant machine. This also means that a hoist for assem-
bly/disassembly can be installed with which the place
of installation of the pump can be reached safely.
• The current leads of the pump must be laid so that
operation is safe and assembly/disassembly is easy.
• The current leads in the operating space must be
correctly secured in order to prevent cables hanging
loosely. Depending on cable length and weight, a ca-
ble support must be attached every 2-3m.
5.2. Installation
Danger due to falling!
During the installation of the pump and its accesso-
ries, work is done directly at the edge of the basin.
Inattentiveness or incorrect footwear may cause
a fall. Danger of fatal accident! Take all safety
precautions in order to prevent this.
Fasten the pressure pipe or hose at the discharge outlet
of the pump and lay the pressure line. If a hose or tube
coupling with a thread is used, the hose nipple at the con-
nections of the pump can be cut off. To ensure optimal
handling capacity, the pressure pipe should display a di-
ameter of at least 1 ¼“. In order to prevent return flow of
the water when the pump is switched off, a check valve
can in addition be fitted in the pressure pipe. The pressure
pipe must be assembled free of any tension.
If a hose is used, it must be ensured that it is laid with-
out kinks. If accessories are used, such as a quick-release
coupling or the like, it must be ensured that it is sealed
with Teflon tape, since any lack of tightness will reduce
the handling capacity of the pump.

When the pressure pipe is being connected, the couplings
or pipe fittings-screwed on the double socket must not
block the opening of the check valve, otherwise the pump
