7. Installation

Pay attention to the maximum depth of immersion (see

pump label).

If the pump is installed in a sump, the sump opening

must be covered with a tread-safe cover after installation.

The operator has to prevent damage through the flood-

ing of rooms caused by defects of the pump through the use
of appropriate measures (e.g. installation of alarm units,
backup pump or like that).

The pump may be installed with a flexible duscharge hose or
a rigid pipe, non-return valve and isolating valve. If a flexible
hose is used, make sure that the hose has the same diame-
ter like the pump discharge and does not buckle.
Please make sure that couplings or rigid pipe at the top of
the discharge connector does not block the integrated non-
return valve. The pump will not obtain the full capacity if the
non-return valve is blocked.

7.1 Automatic Water Sensor Switch
The pump is supplied with a cable-connected sensor switch,
which starts the pump at a water level of 5mm.

The pump is supplied with removable feet:
•    for automatic sensor operation with a switch of water

level of 5mm, these pump should be operated with these
feet assembled

•

for disposal down to a water level of 1mm the feet
should be removed and the sensor contracts bridged

Bridging of sensor contracts: Put the sensor into a flat bowl
or cup filled with water.

Attention:
With bridged sensor the pump is no longer pro-
tected against dry running, pump operation must stopped
manually!

7.2. Installation of non-return valve
The pump usually is installed as an emergency protection
device, which results in long periods without operation.
A blocked non-return valve due to sediments on top of the
valve as a result of long standstill could lead to a pump ope-
ration failure. Therefore we recommend to install the pump
without non-return-valve for this kind of application.

The water flowing back from the discharge pipe without an
non-return valve installed will only slightly increase the vol-
ume of remaining residual water, which has anyway to be
disposed  after pump stop.
We therefore recommend to install a non-return valve only
for applications with a minimum once per week pump opera-
tion

8. Start-Up

Never let the pump run dry for a long time of period, as it

will destroy the pump (danger of overheating).

Put the pump and the sensor switch on solid, horizontal
ground. Make sure the sensor contacts are positioned to the
bottom (see below drawing).
After starting, the pump will continue to run for 4 minutes,
independent of the water level. If, after 4 minutes of opera-
tion, the water level is below the switch-on-level of 5 mm, the
pump will stop.
If the level is higher, the pump will continue to run.

ATTENTION: Below the discarge connection of the pump
there is an air-release whole, which will spray a small quan-
tity of water during pump operation. This whole is necessary
for a reliable air release during the start of the pump and
does not negatively affect the pump preformance.

9.

Maintenance and Repair

In case of a defect of the pump, a repair shall be carried

out only by the manufacturer or through an authorized work-
shop. Modifications of the pump must be confirmed by the
manufacturer. Only HOMA spare parts shall be used.

In accordance with the product liability law we point out

that we shall not be liable for damages caused by our prod-
uct due to unauthorized repair by persons other than the
manufacturer or an authorized workshop or due to the use of
spare parts other than original HOMA parts. The same prod-
uct liability limitations are valid for accessories.

Before maintenance or repair disconnect the pump from

the power supply to avoid accidental starting of the pump!

Before maintenance or repair make sure that all rotating

parts stand still!

Before carrying out maintenance and service, the pump

must be thoroughly flushed with clean water. Rinse the pump
parts in clean water after dismanteling.

At pump types with oil chamber an overpressure can

escape with loosening of the oil chamber control screw.
Screw only when pressure balance took place.

Pumps running under normal operation conditions should be
inspected at least once a year. If the pumped liquid is very
muddy or sandy or if the pump is operating continuously, the
pump should be inspected every 1000 operating hours.
