Getting ready to drive
Warning:
Failure to comply with the following guidelines could result in serious or fatal
injuries, and damage to the tractor.
To prevent any accidents while driving the tractor:
l
Drive according to the rules and regulations applicable in your area.
l
Maintain safe driving speed to the weather and road/surface conditions.
l
Do not operate the tractor if there is a possibility of slipping, crashing, or tipping over.
l
Keep a safe distance in front of the tractor in case you are required to quickly apply brakes.
l
Do not exceed the gross permissible weight of the tractor.
l
Ensure proper weight distribution of the tractor. See ?
To prevent the tractor from tipping over while operating the C992:
l
Slow down when
o
turning
o
working on slopes
o
carrying heavy loads
o
driving near ditches, ravines, excavations, embankments
o
driving on rough, soft or slick ground, or when visibility is restricted
l
Use counterweights (front or rear end) to help keep the tractor stable when necessary. Follow
Holder's instructions when applying counterweights. See ?
l
Avoid abrupt steering and excessive braking.
l
Hitch only at Holder's recommended height.
l
Avoid backing downhill.
l
Drive around ditches, not across them.
l
Drive straight down even the gentlest slope, not diagonally across.
l
While driving on a slope, ensure that the center of gravity does not exceed the tipping limit.
Lower center of gravity reduces the risk of tractor tipping over.
l
Ensure proper tire pressure and track width with respect to the total permissible weight.
The picture below describes the recommended type of driving on slopes (Picture).
