Step 4: Motor and motor mount install
Install each wooden motor mount on the corresponding main wing. Use 30-minute
epoxy to secure. Note that the motor mounts are not identical, the photo below shows
the LHS motor mount being installed on the LHS wing.
Install a motor on the mount by bolting the motor to its supplied CNC aluminum mount
and bolting the aluminum mount to the plywood frame. Ensure that the motor is
centered on the wooden mount. Alternatively, if you motor is too big you can bolt it
directly to the wooden mount from the back as depicted below. Drill 3mm holes in the
correct location and don’t forget to use washers and M3 bolts of the correct length. In
particular, ensure that the bolts that you use do not come into contact with the
windings inside the motor.
Repeat for both sides.
Larger motors such as this
one must be bolted directly to
the plywood from behind.
