Adjusting the Reel Hydraulic Lockout
Valve
The hydraulic lockout valve is a secondary
safety device that cuts off hydraulic flow to
the reel motor if the reel cage is lifted. The
lockout valve also prevents accidental
activation of the motor while in the reel area.
The valve should move between the roll pin
stops in the valve body.
1. Ensure the valve stem bolt (1) is tight.
2. Ensure the clamping bolt (2) is tight.
3. Adjust the valve movement:
-
Loosen the locknuts (3) on the
adjustment rod (4).
-
Turn the adjustment rod (4).
-
Lift and lower the cage while checking
the movement of the valve stem roll
pin (5).
-
When the cage is lifted the valve stem
pin (5) should rotate near to the upper
(6) roll pin stop.
-
Ensure that the valve stem roll pin
(5) does not put pressure on the
upper roll pin stop (6).
-
When the cage is lowered the valve
stem pin (5) should rotate near to the
lower (7) roll pin stop.
-
Ensure that the valve stem roll pin
(5) does not put pressure on the
lower roll pin stop (7).
-
Tighten the locknuts (3) on the
adjustment rod (4).
