Connecting the BPC-Tool to the battery
• Parking brake pulled
• Park position also engaged in automatic vehicles.
• Protect vehicle against rolling away.
• Battery in perfect state of maintenance.
7.2.2 Connecting the terminal clamps
CAUTION
Overvoltage
Fire hazard/risk of destruction of the BPC-Tool and its
surroundings
Comply with the maximum permitted voltage load of the
BPC-Tool:
• Direct voltage: 35 V
NOTE
When the battery has been removed from the vehicle, ensure
the following:
• Always use lifting gear or a strap to lift the battery.
To connect terminal clamps to the battery:
1. Connect the red terminal clamp to the positive terminal (+).
2. Connect the black terminal clamp to the negative terminal (–).
If the terminal clamps have been connected to the battery incorrectly,
the following text is displayed:
Incorrect polarity of terminal clamps,
connect red to positive terminal (+) and black to negative terminal (-).
3. If the terminal clamps have been connected incorrectly, repeat steps 1
+ 2.
If it is not possible to perform a battery test, the following texts are
displayed:
Bad terminal clamp connection or cable problem. Check
terminal clamps or Unstable battery detected. Check terminal clamp
connection.
4. If battery testing is not possible, remove the terminal clamps, clean the
pins and reconnect the terminal clamps.
