Remove the insulation from the outer vent pipe.
For rear venting there is no insulation in the outer vent
pipe.

To attach the fi rst section of vent pipe, make
sure to use the fi berglass gasket in the manual bag to seal
between the fi rst vent component and the outer fi replace
wrap. Use 2 self tapping screws to secure the gasket to
the outer wrap.
Secure the fi rst section of venting to the fi replace by screw-
ing through the two straps left over from cutting the seal
cap strap in step 2.
Note:
Once the vent cap has been removed, it cannot be
reattached.
C. Securing and Leveling the Appliance
The diagram shows how to properly position, level, and
secure the appliance (see Figure 7.9). Nailing tabs are pro-
vided to secure the appliance to the framing members.
• Rear venting - refer to Vent Clearances and Framing
(Section 6F) for hole location.
• Place the appliance into position.
• Level appliance from side to side and front to back.
• Shim the appliance as necessary. It is acceptable to use
wood shims.
• Bend out nailing tabs on each side.
• Keep nailing tabs fl ush with the framing.
• Secure the appliance to the framing by using nails or
screws through the nailing tabs.

it CANNOT be changed at a later time.

The factory supplied non-combustible board spans the
distance from the top of the fi replace to the center of the
framing header. This board must be installed. The board is
split in two pieces for shipping purposes.The smaller board
is shipped on top of the fi replace between the standoffs,
immediately behind the larger piece.
1. Remove or loosen 3 screws holding the board in place.
Remove the larger board that is shipped in place.
2. Place the smaller board on top of the fi replace surround.
There are two locations on the fireplace surround
that have a series of slots close together. Drive two
screws (supplied) into the board through the slots in the
surround backer. Carefully drive the screws until the top
of the heads are fl ush with the surface.
3. Place larger board on top of the smaller one. Drive the
three screws back into the slots in the board sinking the
heads fl ush with the board. See fi gure 7.8.
