How to use the Canta
A few tips
앫
Make the fire always on a bed of ash. This is an insulating layer for the fire and an excellent bed for the fuel.
앫
If the Canta is overloaded with too much wood and the maximum amount of oxygen is supplied (which happens
when the door is ajar and the aeration slide open), the fire may 'run wild'. If this should occur, close the door and
aeration slide. Never in such case leave the stove unattended.
앫
You also control the temperature by the amount and kind of fuel used for each load.
앫
Remove excess ashes using a scoop or the Ash Cleaner. Never remove ashes using a vacuum cleaner because fire
may still continue to smoulder for days. Make sure you leave a layer of ashes (± 3 cm) for the next fire to be made.
앫
When the weather is foggy, it is preferable not to use the stove since the draught in the flue will be too low.
1. Open the aeration slide.
2. Light the Canta with paper, cardboard or firelighters and small wood. Stack lightly.
Allow some time for the Canta to heat up. This will ensure a proper draught, keep the
flue cleaner, and results in a good fire under the more solid logs to be added.
Leave the aeration slide a bit open for additional draught.
3. When the fire gets smaller, add solid wood varying in thickness from 5 to 7 cm.
The amount depends on the heat required. Stack lightly. Do not add more than 3 to 4
logs at a time.
4. After each loading, give the fire some extra oxygen by opening the aeration slide all the
way. Repeat this until the fuel is burning properly.
5. A quietly burning fire is obtained by reducing the opening of the aeration slide by
pushing it inwards. This will reduce the draught in the Canta.
For a glowing mass of charcoal, you may close the aeration slide even further.
The heat will then last longer.
When you want to let the fire die down, you must open the aeration slide.

The power of fire
As a matter of fact just a few things withstand a real hot fire. Your stove can also be damaged by overheating. Just to
prevent this take account of not burning more than 2,5 kilograms of wood at the same time. 2,5 Kilograms is approxi-
mately equal to 2,5 massif logs; oak with 15% moisture. The construction and the used materials from the stove are
suchlike chosen to control and resist a fire in a considered way. So heat with consideration.
Heating open
The Canta fireplace can also be heated with an open door. The window frame remains open easily due to the counter-
weights. Mind the steel cover which can become very hot and also the fact that light in color paint might give a slight
difference in color.
