keystrokes as you make them, including echoing any characters you delete using the
Backspace key. Press Enter to confirm.
If you have entered an invalid IP address, you will be returned to the buffer, and you will
need to re-enter the menu to try again.
After pressing Enter to confirm your IP address, you will be asked for your IP mask. This is
usually in the form 255.255.255.0 or 255.255.255.255. Enter this IP address in the same
way as for your IP number and press Enter to confirm.
The next number to enter is the default gateway, which is the address of your router. Enter
this in the same way as before, and press Enter to confirm. Then you will be asked for a
DNS address; this could be the address of the router or a DNS address supplied by your
provider. Enter it in the same way and press Enter to confirm.
Once all the addresses are in, you will hear a ticking-clock sound while Auto-Lektor tests
the connection, and then the message "internet connection parameters set".
If you have entered valid IP data which is incorrect, you will hear an error message when
Auto-Lektor tries to connect to a web page.
Changing From a Static IP to Automatic Connection
If your internet connection changes and you want to return to DHCP connection, which
obtains an IP address automatically, use F1 or F11 to enter the Internet Menu. Step
through the menu using F1 or F11 until you hear Set DHCP as Default Connection Type.
Press F2 to confirm. You will hear the ticking clock for a few seconds, and then Auto-Lektor
will say "IP dynamic parameters set". The change has now been made.
Using Auto-Lektor to send and receive email
When you use Auto-Lektor to read email, you are using the same methods as you do to
scan a page of text. First you set the source of your text, and then you scan the text. Then
you read the text, and you can pause, navigate, re-start reading from the beginning, and
so on. The keystrokes you use to do all these things are just the same as they are for
reading a book.
Before you can actually go ahead and read email, Auto-Lektor needs to know where to
fetch the email from, and where to send email to.
This facility requires the use of the external keyboard; make sure it is plugged in before
you turn Auto-Lektor on.
Before you begin
Before you begin using Auto-Lektor's email facility, you must enter all the details of your
email account, so you will need to prepare the following information:
•
Your incoming email or POP3 server name;
•
The POP3 port to be used;
•
Your outgoing email or SMTP server name;
•
The SMTP port to be used;
•
Your full email address;
•

•
