ODROID C2 USER MANUAL
Hardware Tinkering
N
ow that you have been introduced to the ODROID-C2 and have
become aware of booting it up with a image, it is time to get
acquainted with its main purpose of creation – to be able to in-
teract with the external world through the age-old activity of tinkering.
While its design and production is a marvel in itself, it really shines
in its use to interact with the external world, through a slew of break-
out-boards and sensory devices – all under the control of powerful
operating systems like Linux or Android.
Here are the devices covered in this section:
• USB / UART Module Kit, Bluetooth Module 2 and Tinkering Kit
• Oduino One and ODROID-SHOW2; Weather Board 2
• 16x2 LCD I/O Shield and 3.2inch TFT+Touchscreen Shield
• DC Plug Cable Assembly 2.5mm and USB-DC Plug Cable 2.5mm x 0.8mm
• USB-SPDIF and ODROID USB-CAM 720P
• USB GPS Module, WiFi Module 0, 3, 4
• USB3 to SATA Bridge Board, USB-CAM 720p, HiFi
• Universal Motion Joypad, myAHRS, USB Audio Adapter
• VU7+, VU Shell for VU7+, IR remote Controller
• XProto Plain, UPS3, RTC Shield
Preparation
Install the official Hardkernel Linux image onto an eMMC mod-
ule or compatible SD card. After ensuring Internet connectivity, update
this image using the following commands, then restart the system:
$ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Verify the build information, which should be a similar version or higher
to the following:
$ uname -a
Linux odroid64 3.14.65-75 #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Aug 10 12:47:41 BRT
2016 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux
Update the Hardkernel image with the following VNC Server:
$ sudo apt-get install x11vnc
You can control the ODROID-C2 from another device (via VNC Viewer) on
the local network and perform routine checks via the Linux desktop, remotely.
