Defrosting and cleaning the
freezer
CAUTION
Danger of explosion!
Improper handling of the appliance
can lead to deflagration or explosion!
■
Never use defrosting sprays. They can
generate explosive gases.
■
Do not use mechanical devices or
other means to accelerate the de-
frosting process, other than those
recommended by the manufacturer.
For example, do not use any electric
heating equipment, knives or devices
with an open flame such as a candle.
The thermal insulation and the inte-
rior walls are scratch- and heat-sensi-
tive and can melt.
Your fridge-freezer is equipped with an
air-cooling system. Condensation, frost and
ice are thereby automatically removed.
If, as an exceptional case, defrosting is still
required, please proceed as follows:
1. Ensure that your frozen food remains ad-
equately chilled during the defrosting pro-
cess. If you don’t have the opportunity to
store the frozen food in another freezer in
the interim, set the freezer compartment
to its lowest possible temperature for
approx. 3 hours to create a refrigeration
reserve.
2. Then remove the frozen food and wrap it
thickly in newspaper. During the defrost-
ing process, store the frozen food in an
insulated bag or in a cool room.
3. Pull the mains plug out of the socket.
4. Wash the freezer drawers with warm
soapy water and then wipe dry thoroughly.
5. Place a bowl of hot – but not boiling – wa-
ter in the freezer. This will accelerate the
defrosting process.
Leave the drawers open during defrosting
and place a cloth in front of the appliance
to catch any defrost water that comes out.
6. If no more ice is present, wipe the interior
with warm soapy water. Then dry it thor-
oughly.
7. Replace the frozen food in the drawers
and then close them.
8. Insert the mains plug back into the sock-
et.
9. If necessary, adjust the temperature set-
tings to your requirements.
Cleaning the fridge
1. Pull the mains plug out of the socket.
2. Remove the food and store it in a cold
place in the interim.
3. Remove the glass shelves (2), door
shelves (4) and refrigerator drawers (3)
from the refrigeration area.
4. Clean all of the parts in lukewarm soapy
water. Then dry everything thoroughly.
5. When wiping clean, add a few drops of
vinegar to the water to prevent mould
from forming. Then wipe everything dry.
6. Only clean the door seals with clean wa-
ter; they are sensitive to oil and fat.
7. Reinsert the glass shelves (2), the door
shelves (4) and fruit and refrigerator draw-
ers (3) and put the food back.
8. Insert the mains plug back into the socket.
9. If necessary, adjust the temperature set-
tings to your requirements.
