When ready for treatment that will create airborne aerosol, adjust the rigid flexible hose and
hood directly in front of the patient’s mouth approximately 3” to 4” from the oral cavity.

The green lighted rocker switch should always remain in the ON position and the variable speed
knob adjusted to the highest position for maximum suction. The variable speed knob can be
adjusted to lower suction as per user preference.
5.
Use the “hands free” foot control on/off switch during procedures to reduce the risk of
contamination to gloved hands.
6.
As you are performing work on a patient, you may adjust the proximity of the hood opening for
maximum efficiency.
a.
Note, keep the rigid hose as compressed as possible to avoid slumping or hose movement
during procedures.
7.
NOTE: Never pull the 42ESU by the hose as it will cause the hose, always use the black handle
located on top of the unit.
Recommended Cleaning Instructions
(Does not supersede ADA, CDC or OSAP disinfection
guidelines):
After each use
, the hood opening, and rigid flexible hose should be cleaned.
1.
Make sure the unit is turned off and the hose is fully compressed and in a standing upright
position.
2.
Using approved disinfection wipes, wipe down the inside and outside of the hood opening
thoroughly. Using a second wipe, wipe down the outside of the hose thoroughly.
3.
Turn the unit on with variable speed knob turned to the lowest setting to reduce CFM. Spray
the inside of the hood opening for 5 seconds with an aerosol disinfection agent that is greater
than 70% alcohol. The suction will draw down the disinfecting spray into the hood opening to
cover the inside of the hood opening and rigid flexible hose from top to bottom. Shut the unit
off and reset the variable speed knob to its appropriate setting.
4.
Any additional required cleaning in accordance with CDC, ADA or OSAP guidelines.
Filter Maintenance:
1.
Make sure the unit is turned off and unplugged when performing filter maintenance.
2.
The
HANDLER 42ESU
has two HEPA filters.
A disposable H11 HEPA filter bag is located in the front of the unit.
a.
This filter should be changed on a regular basis. Suggested filter replacement is once
monthly, possibly sooner based upon heavy use. The part number to order is 62-IIDF, set
of 3 filters.
b.
ALWAYS WEAR APPROPRIATE PPE WHEN ACCESSING AND REPLACING FILTERS.
c.
To access this disposable filter bag filter, remove the two thumbscrews in the front and
remove the door.
d.
Slowly and carefully remove the used filter bag and dispose of it according to CDC
guidelines as it may contain contaminants.
e.
Spray the inside front cavity generously with an aerosol disinfection agent that is greater
than 70% alcohol and allow to dry.
f.
Install a new bag making sure the rubber gasket is completely sealed to the suction inlet
tube.
g.
Put the front door back on and wipe down the unit.
