Air-cooled oil cooling (cooling by ambient air):
The basic air-cooled oil cooling system is shown in Figure 46. This method of cooling is indirect cooling which uses
ambient air to cool down the oil, which circulates in the oil cooler.

Water-cooled oil cooling (cooling by water):
This cooling method utilizes a shell and tube heat exchanger and a source of cooled liquid from an external cooling
tower or closed loop evaporative cooler. Once-through water can be used but results in high water usage. An indirect
cooling system uses a pump to circulate the cooling medium and a cooling tower or evaporative cooler to reject heat
from the cooling medium. The basic water-cooled oil cooling system is shown in Figure 47.

1. Please decide appropriate oil cooler capacity by referring to HANBELL selection software.
2. Maximum pressure drop allowed in external oil cooler is 1.5 kg/cm
