PATCH BANKS
There are 10 Preset Banks, each with 9 Patches to store and recall your registrations.
RECALL BY PRESET KEYS

1. Select the Manuals you wish to recall
Press both the [UPPER] and [LOWER] PRESET SELECTOR
Touch Buttons. This will cause the Preset Keys to change the set-
tings for both Manuals.
2. Select the BANK
The [BANK] Touch Button is located immediately to the left of the
Preset Keys. Use this button to select from among 10 Preset Banks.
For this example, while holding down the [BANK] Touch Button,
press the “C
<
” Preset Key.
NOTE: The LED for the Preset Key indicates the selected Bank
while the [BANK] Touch Button is pressed and held.
3. Select the KEY
Press the “G” Preset Key. The Preset is selected and the setting
changes.
4. Try recalling various Presets.
NOTE: On a tone-wheel organ, the Preset Keys would recall a
single bank of hard-wired Drawbar registrations and no other
settings. In addition, the Touch-Response Percussion could be
activated only on the Upper “B” Preset Key. The XK-5 is initially
set this way from the factory; however, as explained on page
104, the PATCH LOAD feature enables you to select which Patch
Parameters will be recalled. In this way, you can save and recall
Patches that will change not only Drawbars but Percussion set-
tings, Vibrato/Chorus settings, Leslie Cabinets, etc.
WHAT ARE “PRESET KEYS?”
A feature unique to Hammond Organs is a set of twelve keys identical to the
playing keys except reversed in color. These keys are not playing keys, but
are used to recall registrations, similar to the combination pistons found on
pipe organs. On the XK-5, the Preset Keys are used to recall frequently-used
Patches. Ten (10) Patches may be recalled (keys “C” through “A”). The “A#”
and “B” keys recall whatever tone color is set up on the Drawbars associated
with that key and its accompanying Parameters.
The 10 Preset Banks are chosen by the Preset Keys in conjunction with the
[BANK] Touch Button located to the left of the Preset Keys.
The PRESET SELECTOR Touch Buttons to the left of the Preset Keys
determine which Manual the Preset Keys will control. When the [UPPER
button is “ON,” the Preset Keys will recall only UPPER Manual Presets.
The LED above the selected Preset will light red. If the [LOWER] Touch
Button is “ON,” only the LOWER Manual Presets will be recalled and the
associated LED will light green. If both buttons are “ON,” both UPPER
and LOWER Presets will be recalled simultaneously - for example, pressing
the “C#” Preset Key will recall both UPPER and LOWER “C#” Presets. The
LED above each Preset will show red and green togather.
