1. Introduction
1.1 General
• Following the instructions and warnings in this manual ensures a smooth, efficient and safe handling of the Elephants Trunk.
• Before starting to work with the Elephants Trunk, the operator must have carefully read and understood this manual.
• This manual is a part of the Elephants Trunk and must therefore be kept in the immediate vicinity of the Elephants Trunk.
Besides this manual the unpacking instruction is also part of the Elephants Trunk.
• This instruction manual constitutes original manufacturer’s instructions in the sense of EC Directive 2006/42/EC.
• GTM Professional is continually striving to further develop its range of products. We therefore reserve the right to make
alterations to the form, technical specifications and equipment level of our standard equipment. For this reason, the information
and illustrations in this manual are subject to alterations.
• The warranty will be invalidated in the case of unauthorized intervention on the Elephants Trunk and whenever the safety
instructions, as described in the following enclosures, are not followed.

1.2 Description of Elephants Trunk (called ET hereafter)
• The ET consists of an adjustable well-padded, wide-strapped harness that is worn by the operator like a backpack. The
hedgetrimmer (or any other handheld machine weighing between 4,5 and 8 kg) is simply clipped onto the steel cable of the
balancer, taking the weight of the machine and transferring it to the whole of your torso. The tension of the spring (preset) in the
balancer reduces the apparent weight of the hedge trimmer by approximately 3 kg. The ET can be used on all hedge trimmers
and because the cable length follows automatically the position of the arms, you can use it at a wide working range. With your
ET you will be able to trim hedges all day long and, furthermore, because you can work with less effort you will work faster,
more accurate and in greater safety.
