4. Installing the product
Before installation, review the installation
procedures in this document to insure proper
and safe installation. Failure to follow
procedures described in this document could
affect your warranty and cause property
damage.
The operating voltage and other electrical data
are marked on the motor label. Make sure that
the motor is suitable for the electrical supply.
4.1 Mechanical installation

Arrows on the side or bottom of the pump
housing indicate the direction of flow through the
pump.
Grundfos circulators can be installed in both
vertical and horizontal lines. Install the pump
with the motor shaft positioned horizontally. See
fig.
We recommend installing isolating valves on
either side of the pump. If possible, do not install
elbows, branch tees and similar fittings directly
before or after the pump. Provide support to the
pump or adjacent pipe to reduce thermal and
mechanical stress on the pump.

conductor is connected only to a
properly grounded grounding type
receptacle.
- For safe operation of this pump, it
must be grounded in accordance
with national, state, and local
governing codes and regulations.
When connecting pipes, be sure to
follow the pipe manufacturer's
recommendations and all code
requirements for pipe material.
Do not use Teflon
®
tape or pipe joint
compound, that is pipe dope, on the
valve threads.
Do not install the pump with the motor
shaft vertical or where the motor shaft
falls below the horizontal plane.
