1. General description
The G 400 range of modules incorporates both a
gateway between various ports, protocols and
modem functions.
The G 400 range consists of the G 401, G 402,
G 403, G 404, G 405 and G 406 modules.
G 400 refers to the whole range of modules.
2. Applications
2.1 G 401 and G 402
GSM modem via Ethernet
The G 401 and G 402 are connected to a CU 401
control unit via an Ethernet cable. See cable specifi-
cation in section
The modem can function as a GSM modem, a GPRS
modem and send/receive SMS messages. The
actual function is determined by the application on
the CU 401.
For GSM data communication with e.g. a SCADA
system, both the COMLI and ModBus protocols can
be used. The application determines which protocol
to use in the actual situation.
2.2 G 403
Radio modem via Ethernet
The G 403 is connected to a CU 401 control unit via
an Ethernet cable. See cable specification in section
The modem is connected to the RS-232 port via a
cable. The actual function is determined by the appli-
cation on the CU 401.
For GSM data communication with e.g. a SCADA
system, both the COMLI and ModBus protocols can
be used. The application determines which protocol
to use in the actual situation.
2.3 G 404 and G 405
GSM modem via GENIbus
The G 404 and G 405 can be connected to a GENI-
bus network to communicate via a GSM modem.
The modem can function as a GSM modem, a GPRS
modem and send/receive SMS messages. The
actual function is determined by the application on
the G 404 or G 405.
For GSM data communication with e.g. a SCADA
system, both the COMLI and ModBus protocols can
be used. The application determines which protocol
to use in the actual situation.
2.4 G 406
Radio modem via GENIbus
The G 406 can be connected to a GENIbus network
to communicate via a radio modem.
The radio modem is controlled via an RS-232 port.
Prior to installation, read these installation
and operating instructions. Installation and
operation must comply with local regula-
tions and accepted codes of good prac-
tice.
All wires to units outside the control panel
must be of the type H05VV-F according to
CENELEC HD21 (to avoid injury from
touching wires).
