Machine vibrates
during operation.
1. Machine not sitting flat.
2. Grinding wheel out of balance.
3. Grinding wheel loose.
4. Motor or component loose.
5. Motor bearings at fault.
1. Ensure machine is on solid, flat surface.
2. True the grinding wheel (see
Truing/Dressing
Wheel on Page 21).
3. Retighten grinding wheel with wheel puller.
4. Inspect/replace damaged bolts/nuts and retighten.
5. Test by rotating shaft; loose/grinding spindle
requires bearing replacement.
Machine does not
start.
1. Break or short in wiring; or loose
connections.
2. Power supply switched off/has incorrect
voltage.
3. Wall circuit breaker tripped.
4. Motor ON/OFF switch at fault.
5. Capacitor at fault.
6. Motor at fault.
1. Trace/replace broken or corroded wires; fix loose
connections.
2. Switch power supply on/verify voltage.
3. Ensure circuit size is correct/replace weak breaker.
4. Replace switch.
5. Test/repair/replace.
6. Test/repair/replace.
Machine stalls or is
underpowered.
1. Plug/receptacle at fault.
2. Machine undersized for task.
3. Motor at fault.
4. Motor bearings at fault.
1. Test for good contacts/correct wiring.
2. Use new grinding wheel; reduce feed rate.

4. Test by rotating shaft; loose/grinding spindle
requires bearing replacement.
Grinding wheel
clogs or dulls
quickly.
1. Too much pressure applied.
