using a 5mm hex wrench, remove the rear col-
umn cover to access the z-axis leadscrew and
worm gear (see
Figure 52).
use mineral spirits, shop rags, and a brush to
clean away the old grease from the leadscrew
threads and the worm gear teeth.
use a brush to apply a thin coat of grease to the
threads and teeth, then raise/lower the headstock
several times to distribute the grease.
Note: Replace the rear column cover before re-
connecting the machine to power.
