Drill pilot holes with an ¹⁄

" or a ³⁄

" drill bit.

Drill the holes through the platen and the

rotation plate with a

⁄

" drill bit.

Drill the installation hole in the stand using a

⁄

" drill bit.

Note—

Always use cutting fluid when drilling

and tapping sheet metal (the stand and rota-
tion plate). When drilling or tapping cast iron
(the platen), cutting fluid is not necessary.

Thread the stand installation hole with a

⁄

tap.

Note—

For every half turn of the tap, back off

a quarter turn to clear the chips and prevent
the tap from breaking.

Temporarily bolt the long support bracket into
the two holes indicated in

Figure 5

and use a

center punch to mark the location of the third
hole.
