3.4 Electrical connection
1- Connect the followspot to the Ballast using the cable supplied with the lantern.
The cable is complete with a 6 poles + earth plug. Connect the plug to the soc-
ket located on the upper part of the ballast.
2- Connect the ballast mains cable to a plug capable to support a load of at least
25 Amps.
3- Connect the ballast to a mains supply of 230V - 50Hz.
4.0 USE OF THE LANTERN
4.1 Operation
The
DARDO 2500 HMI
followspot use a discharge lamp 2500 HMI with base G38. It is
a long-throw followspot suitable for use at long distance and in situation where bril-
liant and white light is required. The advantage of this followspot is the compact size
which doesn’t require excessive space during operation.
4.2 Focus
Connect the followspot to the mains supply, turn the main switch of the ballast on
ON position. Followspots are used either with a sharp or a soft edge. The focus con-
trol knobs are located on the side of the lens tube. The front knob sets the diameter
of the beam while the rear knob is used to focus the beam.
4.3 Standby
On the rear part of the followspot, the switch allows to select ON/OFF and STANDBY
position. Instead of switching off the lamp and subsequently waiting some minutes
before switching on again, it is possible to select the Standby position: the lamp will
considerably reduce its power and it will be possible to switch it on again immedia-
tely.
4.4 Centering the lamp position
Even if the lamp holder is factory set to use a 2500 HMI discharge lamp, it’s possible
to centre the beam by adjusting the height of the lamp with reference to the con-
densor lens axis.
The lamp holder is fixed to the lamptray by 4 spring screws which allow the move-
ment of the lamp in all directions.
Turn the screws through the 3 holes located on the base cover and adjust the height
of lamp and lamptray to obtain the beam centering. This operation is possible while
the lamptray is closed and the lamp is on.
4.5 Iris diaphram
The iris diaphragm is located in the central part of the lantern and is fitted with a
lever which is used to reduce the diameter of the beam while maintaining the
same light intensity.
We suggest to re-open the iris as soon as the followspot is switched off to obtain an
even cooling of the iris leaves.
4.6 Dimmer
The dimmer is located in a non-focused point of the optical path on the front part
of the followspot. It provides a smooth dim, from full power to blackout and it can
be used in conjunction with the iris diaphragm.
