NOTE: 

 

The adjustment pin (item 1) is 

used to set the height of the mower 
deck. See 

 

Specifications 

 

on page 26 for 

height adjustment dimensions.

a.Press mower lift pedal (item 2) all the 

way forward.

b. Install adjustment pin (item 1) in the 

desired adjustment hole (item 4).

c.Slowly release mower lift pedal 

(item 2) until contact with adjustment 
pin (item 1) is made.

 

Mower Lift Pedal Adjustment

 

NOTE: 

 

Position mower lift pedal further 

forward or backward for increased leverage in 
lifting the mower deck (figure 6). 

 

NOTE: 

 

Adjusting the seat further forward will 

also help to increase the leverage in lifting the 
mower deck (see 

 

Seat Adjustment

 

 on 

page 13).
Remove mounting hardware (item 3) and 
place mower lift pedal (item 2) in the desired 
position.

 

Axle Locks (Item 9)

 

NOTE: 

 

The unit comes shipped with the front 

axle (item 1) in the lockout position (item 3) 
(figure 7).

If a pivoting front axle is needed:

a.Remove axle lock hardware (item 4) 

from lockout position (item 3).

b. Install axle lock hardware (item 4) in 

pivoting position (item 2).

 

Fuel Shut-Off Valve (Item 13)

 

Use this valve to control 
fuel flow from left (1) or 
right (2) fuel tank.
Open the valve to operate 
the engine. Turn the valve 
to "Off" (3) when storing or 
transporting the unit.

 

FILLING THE  FUEL TANKS

 

1. Clean fuel caps and surrounding area to 

prevent dust, dirt, and debris from 
entering fuel tanks.

2. Remove fuel caps.

 

IMPORTANT: 

 

See Engine Manual for correct 

type and grade of fuel.

3. Fill fuel tanks to 1/2 in. (1.3 cm) below 

bottom of filler neck. See 

 

Specifications 

 

on page 26 for capacity of fuel tanks.

4. Replace fuel caps.

 

STOPPING IN AN EMERGENCY

 

Bring steering levers back to neutral.

 

STARTING AND SHUTTING OFF 
ENGINE

 

Starting the Engine

 

NOTE: 

 

The PTO must be disengaged and the 

steering levers in the Neutral Lockout Position 
(see 

 

Steering Levers

 

 on page 10) prior to 

starting the engine.

1. Set Throttle Lever to CHOKE (915034, 

036) or engage Choke Control (915038, 
040) for a cold engine. Set Throttle Lever 
at 1/3 throttle for a warm engine.

 

IMPORTANT: 

 

DO NOT operate starter for 

more than 15 seconds per minute as damage 
can occur.

2. Turn ignition key to START position and 

release once the engine has started.

3. After engine starts, set throttle lever to 

FAST position. Disengage choke control 
(915038, 040).

 

IMPORTANT: 

 

Let the engine warm up several 

seconds to several minutes depending on 
outside temperature.

 

Stopping the Engine

 

1. Stop unit.
2. Disengage PTO.
3. Set throttle lever to SLOW.
4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and 

remove key.

5. Set parking brake.
