The following materials are suitable for processing with your Granberg Chipper Shredder
•
Garden waste, tree and hedge prunings, flowers, rose clippings, leaves, berry
plants, vegetable scraps, grass clippings, potato leaves, flowers, shrubs,
cardboard, paper, polystyrene foam, plastic soft drink bottles, bean and pea
straw, hay, lucerne, tomato plants, green and dry branches up to 75mm (3") in diameter.
Materials that are unsuitable for composting should not be processed.
CAUTION:
Do not allow
the following materials to
enter the Chipper/Shredder
•
Metal, glass, bones, rags, stones, screenings, fibrous vegetable matter
(eg cabbage leaves and flax), rubber, rope, string, baling twine, nylon stockings,
fencing wire, and garden tools!!!
Remove all soil, sand and abrasive matter from materials to be processed as these
will cause undue wear on the shredding blade system.
Tree, shrub and hedge prunings shred best when green.
Useful Operating Hints
Shredding
Vines:
Cut into 300mm (12") lengths to avoid tangling around drum.
Leaves:
Dry - Handful at a time.
Wet - Handful at a time. Let chamber clear before placing more
material in and if possible, mix with some dry materials.
Foliage:
Insert branch stalk end first (no larger than 19mm).
Paper:
Dampen all paper and cardboard before shredding.
Insert a few sheets at a time.
Do not drop your secateurs into the shredding chamber!!!
Chipping
• Remove all side branches from main branches and process separately.
• Chip only one branch at a time, up to
75
mm (
3"
) in diameter.
• Avoid forcing branches - let the machine do the work.
