The safe operation of your Granberg Chipper Shredder is now your responsibility as well as the

responsibility of any other person that will operate this machine.

•

Please read the entire operating instructions carefully and familiarise yourself with the operation of

the unit before using the machine.

•

Granberg Chipper Shredders are designed for processing prunings, branches, leaves, hay, straw,

lucerne, styrene and even cardboard and paper. This Granberg Chipper Shredder may not be used
for other material or processes not described in these operating instructions.

•

The operator is responsible for third parties in the working area of the Granberg Chipper Shredder.

Never process material while persons, particularly children, or animals are within the danger zone
of the machine (i.e. within 6 metres or 20').

•

Persons under 16 years of age should not operate the machine.

•

Ensure that anybody that operates this machine at any time is familiar with the operation and safety

features of the unit.

Protective Clothing & Equipment

•

Appropriate protective clothing should be worn at all times when working with the Granberg Chipper

Shredder. This includes leather gloves, work shoes with non-slip soles, close-fitting work clothes.

•

Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry and tie back hair that may get caught in rotating

parts.

•

Eye and ear protection must also be worn at all times.

Operating Precautions

•

Do not place hands, feet or loose clothing in hopper inlets, discharge outlets, or near any moving

parts.

•

Never operate this machine with the top rubber flap removed or with damaged or missing rubber

flap fingers, as this may result in personal injury.

•

Do not attempt to clean out the inlet chutes (top chute/chipper chute) or the discharge area while

the unit is operating.

If you must clean or clear the machine:

(a) Turn the engine OFF.

(b) Wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop.

(c) Disconnect spark plug lead from spark plug.

(d) Wear hand protection (eg leather gloves) before inserting

hand in chamber or chutes.

•

Under no circumstances operate this machine in an enclosed area. Although Carbon Monoxide is

colourless, odourless and tasteless, it is lethal.

•

Never operate this machine with safety covers unfastened or removed. Always ensure that the

draw pins are in place and secured with the nyloc nuts.

•

Avoid operating this machine on a paved, concrete or gravel surface as debris may deflect from the

hard surface and result in personal injury.

•

This product is equipped with an internal combustion type engine. DO NOT use unit on or near any

unimproved, forest-covered or brush covered land unless exhaust system is equipped with a spark
arrester meeting applicable local, state or federal laws. Fitment of an approved Spark Arrestor for a
particular area is at cost of, and is the responsibility of the operator A spark arrester, if it is used,
must be maintained in effective working order by operator.

•

When feeding material into the Granberg Chipper Shredder, ensure that no foreign bodies such as

rocks, screenings, garden tools, stakes or metal parts reach the shredding chamber, as this may
result in damage to the machine and/or injury to the operator. Avoid material accumulating around
discharge chutes for the same reason, as material may "fly back" at the operator through the feed
chutes.
