Leak Test
WARNING: All water activated models such as MT401 and MT403 series
(including float free variants) will automatically activate and transmit a distress
message if placed in water, unless fitted into the Dealer Leak Test fixture.
The following procedure assumes that a MT400DTK is available:
•Using the dealer leak test fixture,
apply dry air at a pressure of 1.0
bar ± 0.1 bar to the leak test hole.
•For operation of the Dealer Leak
Test Kit operation refer to the included
instructions (Part # 310463).
•Completely submerse the EPIRB in fresh
water, and allow for any externally
trapped air to surface.
•Observe for a minimum period of
30seconds and verify that no air
bubbles emanate from the EPIRB,
paying particular attention to the
Cap/Chassis and the cap/antenna
interfaces. A leak is normally indicated
by a
regular release of bubbles from the
leaky area.
