New batteries maybe abort charging too early when charging with charger using the delta-peak cut-off method. Con-
vince yourself with several sample charging passes of the perfect and reliable function of the chargers automatic cut-off
and the invited capacity.
High performance chargers
Safety notes
The charge output sockets and connecting leads must not be modifi ed, and must not be inter-connected in any
•
way.
The charger and the battery to be charged should be set up on a heat-resistant, non infl ammable and non-conduc-
•
tive surface before use. Never place the charger directly on a car seat, carpet or similar. Keep all infl ammable and
volatile materials well away from the charging area. Provide good ventilation.
Never leave the charger running or connected to the car battery unsupervised. . Only one battery may be connected
•
to the charger for charging at any one time.
The only types of battery which may safely be connected to the charger are: Lithium-Polymer packs consisting of up
•
to three cells, and NiCd /NiMH packs consisting of one to eight cells.
To avoid short-circuits between the banana plugs fi tted to the charge lead, please always connect the charge lead
•
to the charger fi rst, and only then to the battery to be charged. Reverse the sequence when disconnecting.
Check before using the charger: are all connections fi rm and secure, i.e. no intermittent contacts? Please bear in
•
mind that it can be dangerous to fast-charge batteries. For example, if there is a brief interruption due to an intermit-
tent contact, the result is inevitably a malfunction such as a restart of the charge process, or an incorrect cellcount
detection, which could result in the pack being massively overcharged
The case slots serve to cool the charger, and must not be covered or enclosed; set up the charger with space round
•
it, so that cooling air can circulate unhindered.
Batteries have to removed from the transmitter etc. before charging.
•
The following batteries may not attached to the battery charger:
•
- Batteries with different cell types
- Mixtures from old and new cells or cells of different manufacturing
- Not rechargeable batteries (dry batteries)
- Batteries which are not certifi ed by the manufacturer to charge with charging currents provided by this charger
- Defect or damaged batteries or cells
- Hot or not completely emptied batteries already loaded
- Batteries with integrated charge- or switching off device
- Batteries built into equipment which are at the same time connected to other electrical parts
BEC system
Use only remote control systems with inserted BEC system! The receiver battery is not any longer needed by the BEC-
system. The voltage supply for the receiver is delivered by the racing battery.
The receiver and the servos have an operating voltage of 4,8 - 6 V. If as current supply the battery with 7,2 V is used,
the voltage has to be lowered on 4,8 - 6 V, this is what the BEC system is doing. When using a remote control system
without BEC system, the BEC switch, stock no. 3028 in connection with the adaptor cable, stock no. 3029,10 must be
used. In place of the inserted mechanical speed control an electronic speed control can be used.
Electronic speed control safety instructions
At the electronic speed control a polarity safe plug should be attached. If you use batteries with other plugs, these
•
are to be exchanged. Pay attention to the correct polarity, because wrong polarity immediately damage the speed
controller.
Switch directly from fast driving forward on fast reverse movement can overheat the speed control.
•
If the vehicle is stopped by an obstacle, it may not be accelerated to full throttle, because thereby an overloading of
•
the speed control can occur.
The electronic speed controller is conceived for the current supply of the receiver and max. 2 additional servos from
•
the 7.2 V racing pack. A higher load may damage the speedo.
If you want to drive in rains and/or a driving on wet underground, you have to protect receivers, servos and speed
•
control. Make this things waterproof!
All plug connectors must be checked for perfect contact. The contacts must be free by corrosion.
•
When installing the electronic speed controller, notice that a high circulation of air is made possible for cooling.
•
Disconnect the racing pack after driving from the electronic speed controller, because by possibly uncontrolled start of
the vehicle the electronic speed controllers and batteries can be damaged or destroyed.
