TEMPERAMENT
You can adjust the tuning, also called ‘temperament‘, of your digital piano e.g. to play
music from older epochs with the utmost authenticity. This is especially useful for the
harpsichord sound of your GEWA digital piano.
To adjust the temperament, proceed as follows:
1. Enter the “Piano Settings“ Menu (-> see page 31) and navigate to the
submenu “Temperament“ by using the upper/lower cursor keys.
2. With the right/left cursor keys, choose one of the following tunings/
temperaments:
- Equal
Equal temperament (Standard tuning for modern
pianos).
- Pythagorean Tuning system based on pure 5ths, suitable for
medieval music.
- Pure Major Pure tuning for modal music like Indian classical
music.
- Pure Minor Pure tuning for modal music in minor.
- Meantone
Based on pure 3rds, suitable for Renaissance and
Baroque music.
- Werck. III
Well-tempered tuning system which inspired J.S.
Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier.
- Kirnb. III
A different well-tempered tuning widely used in
Baroque organs.
3. Use the Exit softbutton to leave the menu.
6.3.6
ROOT NOTE
Within this submenu you can define the root note of a temperament (see 6.3.5). If you
choose When pressing a key on an acoustic piano, some strings start resonating indirectly.
This behaviour is simulated by your GEWA digital piano which contributes to a significantly
natural sound. You can define the intensity of this feature here.
To choose the adequate root note, proceed as follows:
1. Enter the “Piano Settings“ Menu (-> see page 31) and navigate to
the submenu “Root Note“ by using the upper/lower cursor keys.
2. With the right/left cursor keys, select the desired root note.
3. Use the Exit softbutton to leave the menu.
