Operating Procedure with Standard Controller
With your Belt Sander fitted with a selected belt, connect the Gesswein Power
Hand Controller to an electrical supply and the Belt Sander to the Controller.
Set the Slide Rheostat on the Controller to “Low” or the “0” position. Put the
Controller Main Switch to the “ON” position, which lights up a pilot light that indi-
cates your handpiece is ready to use.
To increase the speed of the handpiece, move the Slide Rheostat toward “High”
or “10.” You can then begin working. When work is completed, put the Main
Switch to “OFF.”
To operate your Belt Sander using the optional Variable-Speed Foot Rheostat
or optional On/Off Foot Switch, please refer to the Power Hand 2X Controller
Instruction Manual for proper connection. The handpiece will not rotate until the
foot rheostat/switch is depressed. The rheostat provides infinitely variable speed
control; the switch only turns handpiece on and off (operates at speed selected on
control unit).

Precautions
A.
Before operating your Belt Sander, be sure the desired belt is properly
secured around both pulleys.
B.
Do not attempt to change belts while the handpiece is operating.
C.
During use, avoid pushing too hard on the work tool or exceeding torque
capacity of Belt Sander motor.
D.
Always disconnect the Belt Sander from your Gesswein Controller by the
plug, not the cord.
E.
Do not use oil or lubricants of any kind. Doing so will cause damage to the
handpiece bearings.
F.
Do not subject power cord on handpiece to sharp bending or rough treatment.
Such treatment could cause the cord wires to be broken.
G.
Under normal circumstances, the Belt Sander will not overheat. If, howev-
er, your Belt Sander does overheat, please contact the Gesswein Repair
Department.
