8. Using the IC Card, NFC
1) Overview
To read cards, use IC Card or Near field communication (NFC.)
** A SAM card is required to use this feature.
For information about a SAM card, refer "2. Getting Started > Installing Cards".
** IC Card/NFC is only available for the models with IC Card/NFC installed.
IC Card/NFC can be installed to your device only through our service center.
Contact your sales representative for more information
2) To read a card using IC Card
A. On your Home screen, tap and open a IC Card application.
Touch the input field and enter the amount.
B. Insert the card with the IC card facing down when you are holing the device as
shown the following image.
You can insert the IC Card in both direction.
3) To read a card using NFC(Near Field Communication)
NFC/HF RFID is a short-range wireless connectivity technology standard that enables secure transaction
between a reader and a contactless smartcard.
The technology is based on ISO/IEC 14443 type A and B (proximity) and ISO/IEC 15693 (vicinity)
standards, using the HF 13.56MHz unlicensed band.
A. Using NFC, the RP Series can
(1) Read contactless cards such as contactless tickets, ID cards and ePassport.
(2) Read and write information to contactless cards such as SmartPosters and tickets, as well as devices
with NFC interface such as vending machines.
(3) Read information from supported medical sensors.
(4) Pair with supported Bluetooth devices such as printers and headsets.
(5) Exchange data with another NFC device.
(6) Emulate contactless card such as payment, ticket or SmartPoster.
B. The RP Series support 3 operating mode
